Some are already seeing him as the Voice of the World, condemning America for its arrogance in trying to protect US borders. A Heritage research report, “Social Networking and National Security: How to Harness Web 2.0 to Protect the Country” warned that one of the key issues that has to be addressed is the challenge of information assurance. Its not hard to imagine malicious actors mimicking government social networking tools and creating some serious confusion and disruption. Its something to think about.

The White House says that President Obama is taking the unusual step of personally lobbying the international Olympic committee in order to help create jobs, spur tourism and promote economic growth for the US and especially his home town of Chicago. Certainly, the President should promote trade and tourism, but it is a pity that he can’t get DHS fully on board and willing to make a similar commitment.
