Looking for Changes in the 100% Cargo Scanning Mandate to CBP – HSToday

Joseph Alioto is worried that US mandates to scan cargo containers actually may be hurting rather than helping supply chain security.

Sources recently reported to Alioto, the vice president of sales at Veritainer Corp., St. Helena, Calif., that scanning cargo at the country of origin, as sought by the US Congress, peaked at 6 percent of all US-bound cargo in 2008. As of this autumn, that number has dropped to 3.2 percent.
