House Democrats Tuesday stepped up their fight against Republican proposed cuts to homeland security grants, protesting the cuts in a markup of the fiscal 2012 appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and pressing for field hearings on the deleterious effects of the cuts.
Rep. David Price (D-NC), ranking member of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, unsuccessfully led the charge against about $1 billion cuts in DHS grants in the 2012 spending bill, which the full Appropriations Committee passed Tuesday.
