Who is in favor of illegal immigration? The obvious answer is no one. However, all of the now defeated candidates running for office in the state of Virginia thought otherwise.
These campaigns, which were built on taking a tougher stand against illegal immigrants failed because the anti-immigrant candidates tried to paint all illegal immigrants as criminals running rampant and causing havoc in our neighborhoods. Fortunately the voters of Virginia saw past these old and tired tactics and focused on issues that really mattered to them like taxes, education and transportation solutions. Candidates in the upcoming national elections should take notices of the election results in Virginia and come quickly to the realization that voters don’t believe in the bogeyman anymore.
