After 5 years, DHS Assistant Secretary for Policy David Heyman is stepping down in search of other pursuits. In a warm, thoughtful letter to the Office of Policy, Heyman wrote:
“There is no higher calling, nor greater responsibility than to keep America safe and secure. Know that, every day, what you do matters. It matters to the lives of families and businesses all across, as well as coming to, America. It matters to our children, and theirs to follow. I believe we have made a great difference together. I thank you for the journey, and for allowing me the privilege to serve with you.”
The entire letter is worth reading, available here. Would that all leaders at DHS were so well-spoken and passionate. Security Debrief wishes Heyman the best of luck and echos his sentiments that what DHS does matters for all of us.
