Are we employing the correct risk management tools to efficiently and effectively use the resources we have? Today’s House Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee hearing on “Priorities Enforcing Immigration Law” got off to a delayed and roaring thud. ICE Director of Investigations Marcy Foreman was unequivocal in her response to Rogers. Contrary to a statement in a Washington Post story, Foreman stated that ICE has not received any instructions from DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano about a change in policy in enforcing immigration laws.
Yesterday, the FBI announced that more than 7,000 schoolchildren in Puerto Rico had their identities stolen by an identity-ring supplying illegal aliens with Puerto Rican birth certificates and Social Security numbers. With this information, the aliens could get drivers licenses, credit, and, of course, jobs.

CQ Homeland Security reports that Harold Rogers of Kentucky, the ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, is disturbed that ICE is not only releasing illegal workers arrested during worksite enforcement raids but also giving them permission to return to work. And he plans to do some raiding of his own today when senior ICE officials come before his committee. “They better come well-armed,” he warns.

Cops do not write the laws. They are hired and trained to enforce what politicians have written and passed to protect the country. The agents liking or disliking a law is not relevant, their only job is to enforce them. Clearly writing a law and then criticizing those that enforce them only brings new meaning to the word hypocrite.
