Here is a note from Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) Director Detlof von Winterfeldt about a tragic loss for the security community and the country.
CREATE regrets to inform you that Harry (Hal) Bowman, one of CREATE’s early pioneers, was a victim in the San Bernardino shooting. Hal was a GIS expert on spatial datasets and maps, and contributed to many of CREATE’s early projects, including the Risk Analysis Workbench, emergency medical supply distribution software and others. He left CREATE to become an educator in the San Bernardino Unified School District. His death is a reminder that terrorism can and does strike us all, whether local or abroad. Our condolences go out to his family.
Likewise, all of us at Security Debrief have heavy hearts and thoughts for Hal’s family, as well as the other victims of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino.
