Former TSA Administrator nominee Erroll Southers has joined TAL Global, a security consulting and risk management firm. He leads the company’s Counter Terrorism and Infrastructure Protection division.

Only two months ago, Erroll Southers withdrew his name from nomination for TSA Administrator. His withdrawal came after months of waiting, with holds placed on his confirmation because of the much-debated issue of collective bargaining rights for TSA employees. Senators who opposed unionization wanted a firm commitment to oppose unionization of TSA workers, something Southers could not do since such a decision would be made at the level of the DHS Secretary and the White House. During hearings Southers said he could take no position, nor make a recommendation to his Commander in Chief, before fully analyzing the agency and its operations.

After withdrawing, Southers returned to his position as Chief of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism for the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Department, the largest aviation law enforcement agency in the country, next to TSA, and just recently, he made his move to the private sector.

In addition to working with TAL Global, Southers is also the Associate Director of the National Homeland Security Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) at the University of Southern California, a position he has held for some time.
