My hat is off to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano. On Tuesday, she granted Federal Protective Service (FPS) law enforcement officers full firearm carry authority (on and off duty). This has been an age-old problem for the great men and women of the FPS. The former policy not allowing officers such authority to carry weapons never made any sense and was actually dangerous for the officers.
From the bottom of my heart, and I am sure I can speak for the rank and file of FPS: Thank you, Secretary Napolitano and all who were involved to make this happen. Special thanks to Jon Adler (President of FLEOA) for supporting this for so many years.
