Detroit Bombing Attempt Renews Calls For FPS Reform – HSToday
The case of a bomb left sitting in a federal building in Detroit, Mich., has renewed concerns about the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agency charged with protecting federal facilities.
A guard with the Federal Protective Services (FPS) reportedly did not recognize the package housing the homemade bomb as dangerous and left it in his office for about three weeks. The bomb went unnoticed from Feb. 26 to March 18. The bomb was discovered when another FPS guard ran it through an X-ray machine.
