CSIS is releasing an annotated brief on contracting by the Department of Homeland Security and on the industrial base that supports it. The brief covers the years 2004 to 2010 and analyzes top line Department contract spending on products, services, and research and development as well as spending across six key components: the US Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Office of the Secretary. In addition, the brief analyzes trends in the types of contracts, the funding mechanisms used, the level of competition, key contractors and the role small and medium companies have played in the homeland security market.
