From Fierce Homeland Security:

Enforcement of the Real ID Act will be phased in starting in April under a schedule the Homeland Security Department released Dec. 20. The law, passed in 2005, established standards for state-issued identification cards such as driver’s licenses. Eventually, people with IDs from noncompliant states won’t be able to board commercial planes, but DHS says that won’t happen until 2016 or later.
